The Impala Super Sports even had their own body style code from 1964-1967. There were quite a few body style codes used from 1964-1970 due to the wide array of models available such as the Impala, Bel Air, Biscayne and Caprice. engine, while an even number designates an 8 cyl. The first part is always 1 to designate Chevrolet, 2nd for the series and 3rd for the specific body style. The body style number consists of three parts. The year is identified by the last numeral in that year so 4=1964, 7=1967, 0=1970, etc. The only change was that the body style was now in front followed by the model year. Starting in 65, it changed to 13 characters. This early format had the model year at the front followed by the body style, assembly plant designation and sequential serial number. Up through 1964, the VIN number was 12 characters. Starting in 1968, it was moved to the driver’s side dash panel and can be seen by looking through the windshield. The brakes have been converted to discs up front and there is a Bluetooth stereo in the passenger cabin. The SS has a set of headers with a pair of Flow Master glass-packs. It carries an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and the ignition system is now electronic. This SS comes with a 327 cubic inch V8, but we don’t know if it’s numbers-matching or the 元0 (250 hp) or L74 (300 hp) version. It appears to have fender skirts in the rear and curb feelers up front. The white interior is also as it was built and the seller says it’s in good shape, too. The paint is said to be as applied at the factory and looks like Silver Blue in color. We only have a couple of photos from the seller to gauge the quality of this car, but it looks sweet from what little we can see. The cars also had an all-vinyl interior with bucket seats and a center console for the Powerglide automatic transmission as in the seller’s car. But it’s received a few performance upgrades to the engine. This ’64 beauty is one of those cars and looks to be in great shape with both its original paint and interior intact. But the full-size Chevies were making noise of their own as the Impala Super Sport (or SS) was now a series of own and more than one third of the 536,300 Impala 2-door hardtops built that year were Super Sports or some 155,000 cars.
